Congratulations to Gabe and Rhonna Blatt - 2009 Beekeeper of the year. They have been beekeepers for over 30 years and currently have about 22 hives. Gabe and Rhonna have been very active in the local and state association business and activities for many years. They helped form and are charter members of the Cabell/Wayne Beekeepers Association. Gabe is currently president and has been for 15 years. Most recently Gabe was responsible for bringing the HAS 2008 meeting to Huntington and served as the 2007-2008 president. Rhonna can always be found right there with Gabe, in fact she taught a scrap booking class at HAS as well as here at the association’s fall meeting. They were also responsible for the quilt auctioned at HAS. Both have been involved at the fall meetings from demonstrating back stretching and strengthening exercises to showing off their fine collection of honeypots. Gabe currently chairs the budget and finance, and the best management practices committees.
